Chena Power, LLC was established in 2006. Our company is a subsidiary of Chena Hot Springs Resort. Chena Power has years of experience maintaining the Organic Rankine Cycle geothermal power plants at the famed resort. In addition, Chena Power is on the leading edge when it comes to other forms of renewable energy. Currently we are working on a biomass powerplant at 9 mile Richardson Highway just outside of Fairbanks, Alaska.
Our vision is for Alaska to become a self-sustaining community in terms of energy, food, and fuel to the greatest possible extent. We look to nature as our guide, we call it biomimicry. Biomimicry (from bios, meaning life, and mimesis, meaning to imitate) is the examination of nature, its models, systems, processes, and elements to emulate or take inspiration from in order to solve human problems sustainably.
For example, algae and other plant species thrive on CO2 with an oxygen biproduct . We see an opportunity to explore carbon capture techniques in power generation through the use of greenhouses. At Chena Hot Springs we have performed several years of rigorous testing, growing produce in a CO2 rich environment. We feel that as a private sector company we are positioned to lead the drive towards renewable, sustainable technologies, and to make them economically viable as well as practical.
Myron L Meters is proud to do business with Chena Power.
